Video courtesy of Spectrum Health Beat -- A heart-transplant recipient was able to meet his donor's family for the first time during an emotional gathering at Spectrum Health Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center in Grand Rapids on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019.

Jo Ann and Phil Britton lost their son, Nick, who was 28 when he died on June 18, 2016. Tyler Jaenicke, a Spring Lake native, received Nick's heart through the Richard DeVos Heart & Lung Transplant Program.

Also at the gathering was Brittons' daughter and son-in-law, Meganne and Ryan, along with their their 3-year-old son, Bennett.

The families shared loving stories, hugs and tears as they listened to Nick's heart beating in Tyler's chest.
