Olena Tokar (Олена Миколаївна Токар) performing "Song To The Moon" from Antonín Dvořák's opera Rusalka during the final of the Cardiff Singer Of The World competition in 2013.
The Ukrainian lyric soprano moved on to the Song Prize final that year and subsequently joined the BBC New Generation Artist scheme from 2013-15.
Olena Tokar has been a member of Leipzig Opera since 2010, and has appeared in productions all over Europe, including at the Verbier Festival as Puccini's Mimì, at the Vilnius Opera as Gounod's Marguerite, as Verdi's La traviata at the Trondheim Opera, and as Gounod's Juliette at the Grange Park Opera.
She has done various recordings, including a collection of art songs by women composers (Clara Schumann, Alma Mahler-Werfel, Vítězslava Kaprálová and Pauline Viardot-Garcia) together with pianist Igor Gryshyn.
