Title: Thrilled with Joy
Passage: Luke 10:21-24
Speaker: Speaker: Kevin Maloney
This passage begins with Jesus’s heart being thrilled with joy. We learn a lot about Jesus by learning what causes his heart to rejoice.
Jesus Rejoices in His Fellowship with the Trinity (Luke 10:21)
- God’s joy in God is a consistent theme throughout scripture. God is a God who loves and rejoices in Himself, and then calls others to join in that joy and worship Him (John 4:23, Psalm 16:11). How is it not vain for God to demand our worship? How is it loving?
Jesus Rejoices in God’s Sovereignty (Luke 10:21)
- Jesus rejoices that God remains the Lord of heaven and earth. In the previous passage, God is present with the disciples casting out demons. How can God’s rule over all things be a pillow for our heads in these terrible times.
Jesus Rejoices in How God Saves (Luke 10:21-22)
- Jesus rejoices not only in the fact that God reveals Himself to some but in the fact that He hides Himself from some. How does that make sense? How does 1 Corinthians 1:18-30 inform your answer?
- Why is God’s revealing himself to “children” and to those who accept a “foolish” message a reason to rejoice? Why does this thrill Jesus? Why should it thrill us?
Jesus Rejoices in the Privilege of Knowing God That He Has Extended (Luke 10:23-24).
- Think about the immense privilege of knowing Jesus. Why is it such a big deal? Why is sharing that privilege with others so important?
