Jazz Junction was formed by bassist Colin D’Cruz with a ‘floating personnel’ concept. The sound of the band kept changing with every change in personnel. The outcome is always interesting with fresh new sounds created with every change in personnel. The band also always encouraged guest artistes, often from the audience, who have a blast taking the stage with the band.
D’Cruz noticed the huge popularity of Karaoke in Goa and decided to take it to the next level. From the 1st of June Jazz Junction will host an official weekly jam session every Thursday at Miss Margarita, a Mexican restaurant at Vagator. This will be the first ever open mic for not just singers but musicians aswell.
The reason why this is possible is because the musicians in the band are accomplished enough to deliver impromptu. The thrill of performing to backing tracks is increased ten-fold when jamming with a band. D’Cruz hopes ‘Jam with Jazz Junction’ catches on with more bands deciding on an open mic atleast once a week.
