The all-new 2024 4Runner will be the most powerful and most exhilarating 4Runner ever. Despite being long in the tooth, the Toyota 4Runner has been one of America's 5 best-selling midsize SUVs for the past several years.
The 2023 4Runner is the 14th installment of the nameplate's 5th generation, and despite the rugged Toyota midsize SUV's good sales performance, Toyota needs to launch a new-generation 4Runner to keep the model competitive. Toyota 4Runner fans' prayers may be answered soon, as many clues point to the development of an all-new 2024 Toyota 4Runner.
The Toyota 4Runner competes against other rugged SUVs like the Jeep Wrangler and the Ford Bronco. However, Toyota also built the 4Runner to be a versatile family SUV that can match up well against the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Ford Explorer. For instance, the 2023 4Runner's SR5 and the Limited trims may not have the rear locking differential and off-road suspension system of the TRD Pro trim, but they do have a 3rd-row seating option to accommodate more passengers. This versatility makes the 4Runner suitable for all kinds of adventures – be it long road trips with the family or weekend rock crawling and mud running challenges with the off-road club.
