Over 20,000 residents of Watamu in Kilifi North constituency are protesting over a grabbed public piece of land in Watamu, which they say is the remaining fish landing site in the area.
The land in question falls within a prime beach property which residents claim is public property but are now shocked to learn that a tycoon has obtained ownership documents. The residents claim that the influential tycoon allegedly colluded with some local leaders to evict people. Among the land that has been grabbed, is a children playground and the fish landing site which are currently on sale.
