This Brass Sundial came from an Estate. I did some research to learn how to use it and thought I would put together a short video on it. It has a pretty high "cool" factor in my opinion. Best I can tell it's a London Hall Antique replica of some sort but I won't swear to it. This is a bit off the beaten path for my channel but you need to have and share a little bit of historical technology once in a while! The compass in it is pretty decent and it did not take lone to line up the pointer with magnetic north. One puzzle I quickly solved was the protractor on the side to set the declination of the sun dial based on your latitude. I had to do some quick research to figure out my latitude but that was easy enough.

An interesting note I didn't mention was that this would work south of the equator (It is designed for north). The only difference being that you would line up the pointer (also called an gnomon or a style) to magnetic south.
