We all know that saturated fats, like those found in dairy products like cheese, are bad for us, right?
Well a new study published in the Lancet suggests that eating more of this… could actually prevent this.
Their findings, which looked at data from more than 136,000 people between the ages of 35 and 70 from nearly two-dozen countries-
Found that those who imbibed the most whole-fat dairy, just over 3 servings a day on average-
had 2.2-percent lower total mortality rates than those who ate the least.
And a lower chance of stroke and major cardiovascular disease, as well.
Meaning that just because whole-fat dairy products contain high amounts of saturated fats, there may still be some unknown health benefits.
But don’t reach for the nachos just yet.
The CDC strongly advises against eating this much full-fat dairy, as it has been linked to high cholesterol that contributes to blocked arteries.
But British Dietetic Association spokesperson, told Newsweek: "...much more research is needed before any major guidelines or recommendations are changed."
Besides, I don’t think there’s really much dairy in nacho cheese anyways.
