Double-crested cormorant is cooling down on a hot day.
Like many other birds (herons, owls), Double-crested cormorant is using special cooling down technique - “gular flutter”
It is flapping rapidly the gular skin in their throat (think pelican pouch) and creating a radiator that transfers heat from their blood vessels to the outside air.
