- Chapter 2: The Auroran - D.G. Baley meets with R. Daneel Olivaw and R. Giskard Reventlov, two advanced robots who were friends of Elijah Baley and Gladia. They agree to accompany him and Gladia to Solaria, despite the opposition of some Aurorans who fear the Settlers' expansion.
- Chapter 3: The Spacer - The four travelers arrive on Solaria, where they find millions of robots but no humans. They encounter a hostile robot named Jemby, who claims to be the master of Solaria and orders them to leave.
