Central to the Chief Nursing Officer for England’s (CNO) vision is to harness the collective voice of nursing, midwifery and care staff, to influence and drive change, at local, regional and national levels. To do this, an engaged and powerful workforce is crucial so that changes can be driven forwards. Evidence shows that collective leadership can support this, harnessing and enabling all nursing and midwifery staff to improve the outcomes and experiences for individuals, families and populations, addressing local, regional and national unwarranted variations and inequalities.
The CNO Shared Governance: Collective Leadership programme is made up of 3 components:
Local accreditation
Nursing and Midwifery Excellence
Shared Decision Making
In this film colleagues discuss what nursing and midwifery excellence and collective leadership mean to them.
