The deadly disease rabies continues to be active throughout the Eastern Cape, as well as the other eight provinces. Vaccination drives are ongoing. The Eastern Cape Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform marked World Rabies Day with a vaccination drive in Mdantsane, calling on communities to vaccinate their pets. The disease has claimed 9 lives in this province over the past 18 months.
