The Bío Bío river in southern Chile bears heavy environmental impacts and water contamination from several dam projects built over the past thirty years. After the most recent project, the Chilean government signed an agreement never to develop another mega-project in the area.
Despite this promise, a new project in the pre-construction phase has begun. 60 families who live in the community say they had no knowledge of it prior. Now, a youth-led resistance has formed in protest.
