Interior Decorator and Home Stager Lisa Reis describes the importance of understanding the difference between Tint, Shade and Hue when describing the saturation of colour you are looking for to decorate your space.

Hue- Synonymous with saying 'color'. Hue and Color basically mean the same thing!

Tint- Adding white to a color, making it more pastel. Generally appeals to a more feminine color scheme.

Shade - Adding black to a colour. Generally appeals to a more masculine colour scheme.

Tone - Adding black and white to a color is typically where we find the most common colors in decorating, they are equally please to both male and female.
