Statesman Rail's The Whitby and Esk Valley Statesman railtour was in the region today, so I took the opportunity to head to Battersby where trains have to change ends and exchange tokens.
Train 1Z29, the 0518 Worcester Shrub Hill to Whitby, consisted of Locomotive Services Limited's 47828 at the front, 11 mark 1 and 2 Pullman coaches and 47614 on the rear on arrival at Battersby. 47614 then led the train from Battersby to Whitby.
As mentioned in the captions, the platform at Battersby could not accommodate the full length of the train. This meant it had to draw beyond the platform into the headshunt. As this is very infrequently used, the points had to be clipped into place to allow the safe passage of the train into the headshunt. Unfortunately, despite having my camera pointing in the right direction, I didn't push the record button firmly enough to catch that moment of action.
The driver having received the token for the single-line Battersby to Glaisdale section, the train then departed 3 minutes late.
Based on comments on an earlier video, I have rendered this at a slightly higher frame speed (50 fps) than I normally would to see if it makes a positive difference. Given the wind shake on the camera I think it's difficult to tell!
