Description sent by the project team. Valuing the essential is what architect, urban planner and entrepreneur from Rio de Janeiro Duda Porto, from the office Duda Porto Arquitetura, sought in his Casa Lite, during the 33rd edition of CASACOR São Paulo. In his second participation in the largest national architecture exhibition, Duda designed a house with a total area of 190 m², completed in just 40 days. It is a self-sufficient, modular and sustainable construction, clean and quick to execute.
“The Lite house was born from the search for less excess and more essence. We believe that housing is a meeting point in the constant movement of life. A stage for our relationships with nature and with those we love”, says Duda. Developed by the professional in 2013, the Lite system is based on an architecture of planning and efficiency, in which every detail is thought out for the best use of material, transport, integration between man, architecture and the space around it. The idea is to seek a perfect balance between nature and inhabitant, using technologies and essential architectural lines to create a cozy and contemporary home, with minimal environmental impact.
Presented as a representation of this idea, the Lite house features a modular system that makes it nomadic, and can be dismantled, transported and reassembled anywhere. With a restless mind searching for new solutions, Duda states that this system emerged as a solution for a new way of living. “Today, we look back a little to the past, with the idea of nomadism. Homes must adapt to different stages of life, being essentially flexible, sustainable and mobile,” he explains.
Architecture: The Lite house was developed with the premise of flexibility. Its plan comprises one bedroom, but can add up to four of them, depending on the desire and size of the family, in addition to allowing the kitchen to be expanded. The entire house is made with a metal structure, made of steel frame, which does not require concreting. This made the work clean, with low water consumption and low pollutant emissions. The project comprises 120 m² of internal area and 70 m² of external area, resulting in a fully integrated home, where the arrangement of furniture takes care of delimiting the functions of the house. Without barriers, the house is perfect for communion and conversations between friends and family.
The floors are covered with oak from Parket and the ceiling is made of wood, a unique covering that unites all spaces and reaffirms the idea of integration and spaciousness. Inside, designer furniture, such as those by Jader Almeida, as well as pieces from stores such as Dpot, Arquivo Contemporâneo and Collectania. Everything in neutral tones, including light and wood, creating a rustic home, but still very sophisticated. The dinner has a table for up to ten people and the kitchen is entirely made up of custom furniture from Ornare. To welcome guests, it has a wine cellar (Elettromec) and a small bar. The bookcase serves as a divider for the area that covers the bedroom and the fireplace (LCZ) brings all the comfort for cold days.
A little more reserved, the intimate area has a natural stone wall (Pedra Lolinha) and the headboard (Ornare) appears to bring more comfort. There, a dramatic work from Galeria Lume stands out as a point of color in the midst of a sober environment, in shades of grey, black and off-white. The large frames and shrimp doors allow the home to be bathed in natural light and frame the greenery of the landscaping designed by Landscape. In the outdoor gourmet area we are introduced to yet another modular concept. It is made up of just three pieces, all designed by Duda Porto: a sink, a brazier and a support with a cabinet were designed so that they could be moved and composed in other ways, reconfiguring the environment. There, the wooden deck (Monumental) leads along the stone path.
