We're very much aware that it's slower to ride a mountain bike in wet weather, but just how much difference do conditions make to both climbing and descending? Neil's doing a bit of time travel to find out, will he hit 88mph?

Riding your bike in the wet is undeniably slower, the ground is stickier and more slippery, you're more likely to crash, tyre pressure tends to be lower, atmospherically it's sub-par for human performance, let alone the knock-on effect on your morale! Overall, it requires a lot more of your effort to replicate the speed of a time in dry and dusty conditions. Just how much though? Neil is in the Forest of Dean in an attempt to find out.
