6.25전쟁 영국 유엔참전용사 인터뷰
Over the weekend, South Korea observes Memorial Day,... a day to remember and honor the heroes who fought for the country during the Korean War.
Nearly 100,000 British troops from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force served on the Korean Peninsula,... as part of the United Nations force,... after North Korea invaded the South in June 1950.
We're joined by Peter Dobbs,... who served in the war nearly 70 years ago.
How old were you when you served in Korea, and what was your assignment in the Korean War?
Korea wasn't well known back then. What was your first impression of the country when you landed?
How was life in the trenches in South Korea? How did you cope with the difficult days?
Do you have any fond memories?
Do you recall the day your service ended?
What did you go on to do as a career after the war?
How did the Korean War change you?
How do you feel now, looking at South Korea today?
I believe the South Korean government sent some face masks to veterans recently. Did you receive them yet?
Some called the Korean War the Forgotten War. What are some things you believe the world should never forget about it?
It has truly been an honor speaking with you. We are eternally grateful for your service and sacrifice to fight for South Korea and the freedom of its people.
You made it possible for the 51 million people in South Korean today to enjoy democracy and the privilege of being free.
We also remember the 1-thousand-78 British troops who were killed in the War and the 82 that never returned from enemy hands. Your and their sacrifices will never been forgotten. Please, remember that. You are seen as heroes in South Korea.
Thank you for joining us today Peter Dobbs Korean War Veteran in Northamptonshire in the UK.
