Turkey has successfully tested an unmanned fighter jet. This is Kizilelma (Kızılelma Turkish), which means "red apple" in English. I'm unable to understand the logic behind naming an unmanned fighter jet after red apple, but as Shakespeare once said, "What's in a name?" Red Apple is a low-observable UCAV, pretty much like the US Navy's X-47B, the little brother of B-2 bomber. Kizilelma has a length of 14.7 meters, and a wingspan of 10 meters, while its max speed is Mach 0.9, range is 580 miles, but endurance is just 5 to 6 hours. The Red apple is stealthy, and its internal weapons bay can hold a variety of air-to-air missiles, air-launched cruise missiles, precision guided bombs, bunker busters etc. Interesting thing here is that unlike the conventional drones, Red Apple is intended to air-to-air engagements. Like US X-47B, Kizilelma is carrier capable, though Turkey doesn't have any aircraft carrier, Baykar Defense has said that it will be able to land and take off from TCG Anadolu, an amphibious assault ship of the Turkish Navy.
