Effective scientist-communicators who foster respectful information-sharing are essential for true science-society engagement. This introductory workshop for scientists and engineers originally presented at the 2018 AAAS Annual Meeting covers science communication and public engagement fundamentals, including identifying public engagement goals, engaging relevant audiences, developing resonant messages, and considering engagement opportunities. The workshop is based on the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Center for Public Engagement with Science and Technology’s Communicating Science Workshops ([ Ссылка ]) which have trained more than 4,500 people at universities, meetings, and government agencies worldwide since 2008.
