The song is about the massacre at Piazza Fontana in 1969. It was a bomb planted by certain members of the New Order in order to enforce the strategy of tension (basically the old prop of "The Communists are dangerous we must act first and firmly! here's the proof"). In 1969 the bomb exploded and it killed 17 people. After a while the police arrested an anarchist by the name of Giuseppe Pinelli and tried to force a confession out of him. He was the primary suspect because he was an anarchist, however he had a solid aliby and could not be framed. So they tried to extort a confession by keeping him for 3 days under constant interrogation, without sleep, food and while constantly smoking in his face.
On the third night, according to the authorities present at the interrogation (Guida and Calabresi), he managed to jump all the chairs, tables etc in the way and jump out of the window and killed himself. They also had various testimonies that changed every day, one day they said that he jumped without saying a word, another day they said that he jumped yelling "anarchy is dead", another day they said that he had been extremely happy and joked a lot, the day after that the police declared that he had been in constant pain which is how they justified the fact that they called the ambulance 15 minutes before he was found dead outside the building.
A lot of things didn't make sense:
Pinelli managed to evade 4 agents, reach the window, throw himself out after being subject to 3 days of psichological and physical torture? How is it that they couldn't manage to stop him?
The trajectory of the body didn't make sense in the case of a suicide.
The ambulance was called 15 minutes before he fell.
Testimonies changed every day of the week remaining inconsistent.
Later it was found out that the terrorist attack had been an inside job orchestrated by the fascist organisation New Order with the assistence of the secret services
