The West Somerset Railway like all other heritage railways had been closed due to COVID-19. It wasn't until May 22nd of this year that the line could reopen safely following the lifting of the restrictions. However services could only run from Bishops Lydeard to Williton, as there is engineering works involving the renewal of Seaward Lane crossing at Minehead until that is complete.
The railway's 2-6-0 mogul No.9351 held the honor of running the first service trains of 2021 on the line.
Filmed at:
Bishops Lydeard
Nornvis Bridge
Crowcombe Heathfield
Castle Hill
Stogumber
Roebuck
I chose to film on some of the less used and mundane locations, wanting to go with the flow having not filmed on the line in nearly two years. Its a real gem to see the WSR back in action after a tough 18 months or so. A very big thanks to all concerned who brought back the railway back into operation!
