The Sand Heads Fishery in British Columbia is in Area 29 of the Straight of Georgia for the fall salmon run. This fishery is the approach water for the Fraser River in Southern BC. Millions of salmon return to the river each year to return and spawn in their natal streams and rivers. The DFO assesses the returning numbers and determines if there will be commercial or recreational openings for the salmon. This podcast today focuses primarily on the CHINOOK SALMON opener which has occurred the last few seasons starting on SEPTEMBER FIRST.
The opener brings many people out to the ocean looking to catch the prized chinook salmon close to home. These are amazing fish and in great condition before entering the river. There are plenty of South Thompson run Red chinook early on in the opening and then taper off. The white chinook numbers come in strong during September into early October. These fish can be huge reaching sizes over 40 pounds.
I hope you enjoy this first PODCAST of mine. If people enjoy it and there is good feedback, then I'll likely continue producing more content like this. It is really easy for me to just talk about fishing. So I can make content a lot easier this way than actual video fishing content.
Feel free to contribute to topics or questions for segments about fishing the various fisheries I have fished on any prior videos.
Thanks for watching and listening!
Gob Bless.
