Ingredients:
5 large eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
For the milk syrup:
1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 cup heavy cream
For the caramel topping:
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup heavy cream, at room temperature
**you can use store bought caramel if you prefer**
Instructions:
Cake Preparation:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
-In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy. Gradically add in the flour and baking powder, mixing until just combined.
-Pour the batter into the prepared dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool slightly.
Milk Syrup:
-Whisk together the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy cream.
-Once the cake has cooled for about 10 minutes, pierce it all over with a fork and evenly pour the milk mixture over it. Let the cake absorb the liquid for at least an hour or overnight in the fridge.
Caramel Topping:
-Heat sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Increase the heat and bring to a boil, stirring until the mixture turns a deep amber color.
-Remove from heat and carefully whisk in the heavy cream (it will bubble up). Let the caramel cool slightly before spreading over the chilled cake.
