South Korea has confirmed it has transferred $6 billion of frozen Iranian funds to Qatar. This brings to an end a US-Iranian prisoner swap deal, in which each country released five detainees. It also ends a long dispute between Iran and South Korea. The money was owed by Seoul to Tehran for oil it had bought before the Trump administration banned such transactions. Separately, Yonhap news agency reported that Iran is now looking to collect interest from South Korea for withholding its funds.
