The Elsevier Foundation contributed to the launch of the Collaboration for Evidence Based Healthcare in Africa (CEBHA) through a $130,000 grant from the Innovative Libraries program. In 2013, Dr Frode Forland, a public health specialist at the Royal Tropical Institute in the Netherlands held 2 workshops in Tanzania and Burundi, "The role of Elsevier here has been crucial in getting this started, while we are still searching for other funds. This grant has been extremely good seed money helping us to establish this collaboration with the eight countries we are working across Africa."
