This is often thought of as a children's song, yet it really is a simple and powerful prayer. The sincerity of this prayer gets somewhat lost in its usual upbeat performance - why would someone pray for joy when already bouncing around in a major key? Dennis and Collette capture the desire for joy, peace and love when circumstances are bleak, the news is bad and our world is falling apart. This hymn is often used as part of Palm Sunday services due to its Hosanna refrain. In this arrangement, it also captures the journey that is Holy Week and Christ's Passion which is also read as the main Gospel of Palm Sunday.
