The true story of King Henry VIII's (1491-1547) second wife Anna Boleyn served Gaetano Donizetti as a model for his breakthrough ANNA BOLENA.

In this bel canto drama, the Italian composer finds his own mature style - varied, lively and very agile melodic lines are interspersed with rich and elegiac moments, while the colouratura ornamentation is quite purified.

Come and see for yourself - on 15 December we will be showing the opera in a production by David Alden with further performances on 19/22/26 Dec 2023 + 11/16/19 Mar 2024.
