Up to 40 thousand domestic mink were released illegally from a mink farm in Van Wert County a week ago.
That has experts worried about the area’s eco-system and residents worried about their animals, both domestic and livestock.
That worry wasn’t unfounded for one Van Wert resident.
Logan Welker took a photo near his home and posted it on Facebook on Sunday saying 1 mink actually killed 14 of his neighbor’s chickens.
Welker says this happened roughly 12 miles from the mink farm - between Van Wert and Middle Point.
Welker says he and his neighbors relied on the chickens for eggs - and the owner was saving that money for her grandchildren.
