Robotic surgery is known to provide surgeons with better precision and visualization in complex surgery. We presented a case of a 39-year-old male with incidental finding of a right posterior mediastinal mass during a renal calculi work up. He has intermittent right shoulder pain but otherwise asymptomatic. Computed Tomography (CT) Scan confirmed close proximity to trachea, superior vena cava, azygos vein, right subclavian artery and oesophagus. Cytological assessment via Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) reveal no malignant cell.
Given the benign nature and proximity to important structures, most centres had opted for conservative management. We postulated that robotic approach will be of advantage for this particular case.
