ABRSM introduced Performance Grade at 2020 when the pandemic first started to provide alternatives for physical music exams that were forced to be put on a halt. However, it is not to replace the physical exam (now known as practical grade). ABRSM will continue to offer both type of exams.
We have compiled this guide for you to fully understand how ABRSM Performance Grade works.
UPDATE 1: March 2023 onwards online programme form will be in use. Candidates no longer need to show paper programme form at the start of video recording. Watch: [ Ссылка ]
UPDATE 2: Starting August 2022 the performance grade is available on-demand, which candidates have 28 days from exam registration date to submit the exam recording.

Important note: Under any circumstances where candidates left out pre-performance procedure and unable to record the entire video again, they are allowed to film the pre-performance procedure and performance video separately and combine them into one video for submission. The performance video must be in one complete take and unedited to avoid infringement. It is still highly recommended that candidates are aware of the whole process and record the complete video under one take.
Note on certificate: (For Malaysian applicant/candidate) If you have not received your certificate after 3 months of receiving your result, most likely the certificate is at your state's ABRSM representative (Examination department under Ministry of Education). Do contact them to check if your certificate is there. List & contact of Malaysia ABRSM local representative: [ Ссылка ]
