The new Amtrak ALC-42 locomotive, built by Siemens-Mobility, has entered regular service on three different long distance routes as of August of 2022. With 11 of the new units in service on Amtrak's Empire Builder, City of New Orleans, and California Zephyr trains, the locomotives are becoming a much more common sight these days. In this video, we look at the new ALC-42 in action on the Empire Builder as it travels through the Cascade and Rocky Mountains and along Puget Sound.
