Keep the cable patterning while decreasing from 3 sts to 2, both with a cable needle and without.

With a cable needle:
sl 1 st to cn and hold in back
k2tog
k1 from cn (1 st dec)

insert right needle into the front of the 2nd and 3rd sts on the left needle
pinch the sts
remove the left needle tip from the three sts
pick up the dangling st with the left needle tip
place 2 sts from right needle on left needle
k2tog
k1
(1 st dec)
