Please join us for an important conversation with Greece's Deputy Minister of Development and Competitiveness, Panagiotis Mitarachi, as he discusses Greece's priorities for its upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union. Greece and Europe have experienced profound economic shocks as a consequence of the sovereign debt crisis, impacting the political dialogue on both sides of the Atlantic. As Greece assumes leadership of the EU Council in 2014, it will attempt to revitalize Europe's stagnant economy through a renewed US-EU partnership. How might Athens seek to deepen transatlantic relations to stimulate economic growth? Will Greece accelerate the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations while Mr. Mitarachi presides over the Foreign Affairs Council's trade committee? Or will it focus on advancing the Western integration process in the Balkans and Eurasia as a way to invigorate its own neighborhood? Please join us as Deputy Minister Mitarachi helps to answer these and other pressing questions facing the European Union.
Please RSVP to James Mina at JMina@csis.org. The discussion will be ON the record.
