Featuring Obaidullah Baheer, Visiting Scholar, The New School; Lecturer, American University of Kabul
This talk covers the delicate state Afghanistan is in with regards to being under de-facto rule by the Taliban, which has been designated as a terrorist group. How do the citizenry of Afghanistan protect their rights when the power asymmetry is heavily tilted in the favor of the Taliban? What role does the international community play in making sure Afghanistan does not fall back into armed conflict while pushing for a positive peace?
This event was initiated by Ebrahim Moosa, the Mirza Family Chair in Islamic Thought and Muslim Societies at the Keough School of Global Affairs, and co-director of the Kroc Institute’s Contending Modernities initiative.
