Six sheep in cam view escaped their enclosure and ran down Top Flat and over the headland. These sheep are usually contained in a field by the RAC but somehow they got out. These local escapees are a fairly rare breed of sheep called Arapawa. Laura Findlay RAC states " they originate from the island of the same name up in the Malrborough Sounds at the top of the South Island. There are several here in a paddock behind the Albatross Centre to help keep the grass low - eco-friendly lawn mowers! "🐑🌱
I am sure the rangers had quite the morning rounding them back up. There are still a number of chicks that have not fledged yet including TF who can be seen from the Port Otago cam (pic included after the short clip). The chicks are mobile and can get out of the way of the sheep.

TF probably had quite the time this morning! We thought he may have fledged yesterday after all the wing exercises in the wind but he is just down below the hill now. You never know what you will see on these cams! Thank you for watching!
