President Ram Nath Kovind led the nation in celebrating the 73rd Republic Day amid the 21-Gun salute presented by Ceremonial Battery of 871 Field Regiment. Before President Kovind’s arrival at the saluting base, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid wreath at the National War Memorial as the country marked the establishment of the country’s Constitution as it emerged from a brutal colonial past on this day in 1950. Republic Day is marked everywhere with flag-hoisting, the grandeur of parades and an air show by the Indian Air Force.
Apart from cultural performances by more than 480 dancers from across the country, and as many as 21 tableaux, the parade will also feature a grand 75 aircraft flypast by the Indian Air Force.
