“The piano keys are black and white”(Katie Melua)
Unfortunately the guitar is not so easily decipherable.
But there is a way to make sense of the layout of the notes on the fretboard.
I think everybody wanting to get better on guitar should understand that.
You should “Know the guitar” just like you know the neighborhood you live in.
Over the years I have developed a way to show and teach my students this map.
If you follow along in this course over roughly 10 episodes you will learn, not just to see
the map but more importantly get it under your fingers.
You will KNOW what you play.
The understanding will support and inform your playing.
This video is part 1 and gives an introduction to the material.
The book shown in the video is by Ted Dunbar:
The Interrelationship of Chords, Scales and Fingerboard of Each One of the Twelve Tonalities of the Guitar
I will present to you many different concepts, exercises,
questions and answers from the guitar teacher’s studio.

I have been teaching for over 35 years.
At first (and still everyday) myself and soon others too.
I have had some great teachers of the instruments and the music.
All of my students and the best of my teachers taught me how to teach.
