I usually don't overclock or try any fancy tech unlocking, but today, with my trusty M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 motherboard, I unlocked the 4th core on a x3 b75 AMD cpu I purchased for about $11 on ebay. I think to purchase the phenom ii x4 975, it would have cost me $50.
Regardless, even though windows 10 displays the cpu as an amd x4 phenom ii 975, this cpu would be more appropriately displayed as a 945 instead.
Passmark CPU ratings were 3741 which is much more inline with a amd x4 945 am3 cpu. Had it been above 4000+, then it might have been more like a 975 cpu 3.0ghz.
It seems that windows 10 mislabels the cpu.
