Review of the 12' long pedal drive fishing kayak from Old Town, "Topwater 120 PDL". This is a good kayak for fishing in saltwater or fresh. It's stealthy and stable!
120 PDL Features:
1. It's a kayak that pedals in forward and reverse
2. It's EXTREMELY hard to flip
3. It comes with three builtin rod holders
4. There's a conveniently located watertight compartment for storing a phone, wallet, tools or keys...
5. It moves quickly with little effort
6. Two watertight access areas for storing things in the hull
7. Very comfortable seat with tilting back adjustments and fabric tension adjustments
6. Builtin drink holder
8. Side pocket storage compartments for small miscellaneous items
9. Rubber grip areas on the floor provide a nonslip surface to stand on
10. There are builtin gear tracks on both side for mounting a fish finder, depth recorder, extra rod holder or whatever additional accessories you need.
11. And much more...

Setting up for fishing is really fast and easy. When all of the accessories are out of the kayak it takes about three minutes to install the pedal drive and attach the seat. I slip two to three fishing rods in the holders, clip my dry bag to the seat strap or built in bungee cord, put my life jacket on and I'm on the water in a few minutes headed to the location I plan to fish.
I cover a lot of things in this review about what it's like to fish out of the Oldtown Topwater 120 PDL.
Here's a list of some of the things I cover in this review:
1. Getting in the kayak
2. How quickly the pedal drive can be lifted and the paddle grabbed
3. How conveniently the rod holders are positioned making it easy to fish out of
4. I show the small watertight storage compartment
5. I demonstrate how easy it is to lift and lower the pedal drive
6. I show where I attache my bait bucket and how the kayak is designed to act as a shelf for it to rest on when I'm grabbing bait
7. I explain how easy the kayak pedals by comparing it to the gearing on a ten speed bike
8. I show how fast the kayak moves with little effort
9. I demonstrated how sharp the vessel turns and mention some of the conditions that may hinder the turning radius
10. I show how stealthy this vessel is for sneaking up to prime fishing areas quietly
11. I rock the kayak around a bit so you can see how stable it is
12. And much more...
Thanks Oldtown for making such an AMAZING pedal kayak for fishing. The Topwater 120 PDL is taking me into areas where I am catching fish like crazy!
