A labor study of the Brooklyn Center Police Department is recommending the city hire 16 additional police officers. The city hired researchers with the National Policing Institute, which recommended the police department be staffed with 36 officers. The department currently has 20 and is budgeted for 26. According to the study, about half of the city's officers feel "emotionally exhausted" and have considered quitting law enforcement entirely.
