Your Mobile - Pensacola - Gulf Coast Area Weather Forecast for July 7, 2024
— Beryl to Intensify - Dangerous Rip Currents - Heat and Storms —
Beryl is beginning to strengthen as it nears the Texas coast. Conditions have become more favorable for a quick ramp-up in intensity ahead of landfall, and we can expect a category one or two storm at landfall. Landfall will occur Sunday night into early Monday morning somewhere between Rockport and Freeport, Texas. Heavy rain, hurricane-force winds, and storm surge will all be possible impacts. Locally, we will see no direct impacts from Beryl. However, rough surf and dangerous rip currents continue to be an issue. There is a high risk of rip currents today.
SUNDAY FORECAST:
We will be tracking a few scattered showers and storms Sunday afternoon and evening, with most thunderstorms expected in our inland counties. Rain will be very spotty in nature, so you will want to keep an eye on the radar to know where it is raining. You can do so with the FOX10 weather app, available on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
The main story of the forecast on Sunday will be the heat. Highs are forecast to be in the upper 80s and low 90s, with heat index values in the triple digits. Stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade if you are spending time outside.
THE WEEK AHEAD:
Little change is expected in the forecast over the next few days. We will see a boost in rain chances on Tuesday, before they drop back to lower chances for the rest of the week. Highs will be in the low to mid-90s each day, and humidity will be high. We expect to see heat index values in the triple digits for the near future.

Nicholas Herboso is the newest member of the FOX10 StormTracker Team. He comes to FOX10 from the University of South Alabama, where he studied broadcast meteorology and minored in music. Nicholas is a native of Fairhope, AL, and is proud to call the Gulf Coast home. He was motivated to pursue a career in weather broadcasting after living through multiple hurricanes on the Gulf Coast and watching the coverage from local meteorologists like John Edd Thompson, especially after watching their coverage of the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons. Past extreme weather events got Nicholas interested in weather early on. For him, weather is a passion that he is excited to share with viewers.
