2. SOUNDBITE (Serbian) Aleksandar Vucic, Serbian Prime Minister :
"The (December) 14th is an important date for our country. I will try and define that in one sentence, it's because on the 14th, when first chapters are open, we show, as the Republic of Serbia, which societies we wish to belong to."
3. Cutaway of Serbian flag
4. SOUNDBITE (Serbian) Aleksandar Vucic, Serbian Prime Minister :
"We want to carry out difficult reforms and finish everything before the end of 2019, and then it is up to the European Union on when will they make a decision for Serbia to become a full member of the European family. Whether that will be in 2020 or in 2022, or I don't know which year, it is up to them."
5. Hahn and Vucic during the press conference
6. SOUNDBITE (English) Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement:
"Happy to see you on Monday again when officially the decision is taken to open the two chapters. But this is not a reason to lie back and to have complacency, quite the opposite, now the real work will really start."
7. EU flag
8. SOUNDBITE (English) Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement:
"I also would like to use the opportunity to thank all of you, the government, the Prime Minister, responsible ministers but also all Serbian citizens, the civil society for having supported Europe in one of its biggest challenges in the more recent history and this is the migration flow. This was not something for itself and Serbia did a remarkable job in a spirit I would have liked to see amongst some member states. And this is what counts, that Europe is understood as a project and not only as a business case. Europe is by far more, it is about solidarity, it is about standing together if somebody is in need."

10. SOUNDBITE (English) Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement:
" And you have already helped us dealing with this refugee crisis and also I believe we have addressed this particular issue and hopefully very soon figures might decline. We are not yet through, and therefore once again thank you to all of us, government, media, civil society for your contribution, for your commitment to the European spirit. This was the best business card of Serbia for European aspirations and that's why ahead of Christmas I am grateful for this gift."
