As an emergency cabinet session to discuss the hardening
confrontation between French trade unions and the conservative
government over welfare reforms started this Monday evening
(4/12), share prices were already showing a hefty loss of 2.82
percent to 1,769.07 points on the CAC 40 index in mid-afternoon
Monday as strikes in the public sector began to spread to the
private sector.
