When he was 11 years old, Beethoven played for Stadhouder Willem V in The Hague. He received 65 guilders on that occasion. Beethoven remembered it when he was old en related to a friend how he felt robbed by the cunning Dutch and called them Money Thieves. He added that later on he had little interest in ever going to the Netherlands again.
