The Yamuna River in Agra, India, has surged to its highest level in 45 years, causing flooding in the vicinity of the Taj Mahal. The river reached 497.9 feet, surpassing the "low-flood level" of 495 feet. The floodwaters have impacted the Taj Mahal's garden and encroached upon Itimad-ud-Daula's tomb. Despite concerns about other monuments, officials from the Archaeological Survey of India stated that no significant damage had occurred. The flooding prompted rescue operations by the NDRF, police, and administration, relocating over 500 people from 100 affected villages and urban areas. Additionally, more than 500 bighas of farmland have been submerged, and several regions are grappling with power outages and shortages of essential supplies.
