Family, coworkers, and viewers of Virginia news anchor Mark Spain are grieving his death. Spain, 64, died just 3 weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. His wife, Lynita Spain, shared the news in a post on her late husband’s Facebook page on Dec. 19. “Our family along with the city of Lynchburg lost a man of hope, someone who loves his city and stood for equality, treating others with respect and kindness. He was a husband, father, brother, friend and a positive light in the community,” she wrote in the message. “We have comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering.” In a newscast that day, Spain’s coworkers at WSET became emotional as they delivered the news to viewers. “Right now we are really grieving the loss of a very important person here in our newsroom,” said anchor Noreen Turyn.
