No lockdown in Nagpur; markets, halls, schools, etc to remain shut amid COVID spike: Guardian Minister

Amid recent spike in COVID-19 cases in Nagpur since last two weeks, Guardian Minister Dr Nitin Raut, on Monday, announced that no complete lockdown would be imposed in the city.

However, in order to contain the spread of the virus, strict norms have been introduced by the administration. These norms include:

• All markets in the city would remain closed on Sundays and Saturdays till March 7.
• All weekend markets (Aathavli Bazaar) would remain shut till March 7.
• All lawns and function halls are to remain shut from February 25 to March 7.
• 50% capacity allowed for marriages at home.
• All religious, cultural, political programmes including dharnas would be shut till March 7.
• All schools, coaching classes and colleges in Nagpur district are to remain shut till March 7.
• 50% of the total customers would be allowed in the hotels.
• Hotels are to remain shut from 9 pm to 6 am.
• Covid Centres would be reopened again. Health team visits would be increased.
• In order to increase COVID-19 testings, citizens are requested to voluntarily get tested if related symptoms are identified.
• New COVID-19 hotspot areas identified in lanes, buildings or colonies would be converted into micro-containment zones.
• Essential services would be permitted to continue.
