🐟Species description:
Pike:
Pike prefer lakes and rivers with weak currents. It occurs in brackish water (the Gulf of Finland and the Gulf of Riga of the Baltic Sea, the Sea of Azov). However, sufficient oxygenation is a mandatory condition.
Pike are ambush predators, hunting in riparian thickets, under snags, near fallen trees on sloping areas on the bottom. It avoids strong currents. Its diet is based on fish of other species (and sometimes of its own), frogs, crustaceans. Occasional attacks on ducks, mice and squirrels are also known.

Chub:
It inhabits small rivers with sufficiently strong currents, cold water and rapids. Often it stays in rapids or whirlpools, by the bank with overhanging bushes and trees. The chub doesn’t occur in big rivers with still water. Sometimes it may be found in lakes, e.g. Lake Ilmen, Lake Seliger. It prefers a sandy or stony bottom and avoids silted water bodies. It is an active predator. Young specimens feed on aquatic insect larvae and terrestrial insects, fallen into the water. Adult fish have an extended diet, including molluscs, earthworms, juvenile fish and crayfish, frogs and plants. Sometimes small mice and nestlings fell into the water may become its prey.


🐟Waterbody description:
A small but yet deep lake, lost in the swampy woods near Kostroma. Local waters are rich in large fish, among which trophy pike or perch are rather common. Local anglers tell about catching extremely long eels, and some of them even caught catfish. Feeder fishing enthusiasts can catch here bream, common carp or black carp. Especially interesting is the black carp, which is highly valued at the local fish market for its excellent taste.
To access this waterbody you need to be level 12.
