Comuna 13 Medellín is famous for once being the most dangerous neighbourhood in not only Colombia but the entire world, due to sky high crime rates and a history of violence.
So what's it like today, after a range of government operations (including the infamous Operacion Orion) and initiatives were implemented in an attempt to revive the neighbourhood? Let's head in & find out.
If you're wondering what to do in Medellín during your time there, we highly recommend taking the Comuna 13 graffiti tour by Toucan Cafe. While it is safe to visit the neighbourhood by yourself, a guided tour will ensure you have a better understanding of the community's evolution throughout the past few decades.
